Q:

Mrs. Lasker, I know you have a lot of things to catch up on today. First I think you'd like to say something about a very special party that you and Miss Johnson gave back on George Washington's Birthday?

Mrs. Lasker:

Well, Lynda said to me one day that she thought her mother didn't have a chance to get out of the White House enough in an informal and personal way, and that she was a hostess that never had a chance to talk to people as you can talk to them if you're not the one that's giving the party and don't have the responsibility for it. I said, “What shall we do, give a party for her, you and me?” and she said, “Yes, let's.” So we gave it on the 22nd of February, 1967, and we took the precaution of asking people that both Lynda and I wanted. I certainly asked all the people that she wanted and I asked most of the people that I wanted, but we didn't mention to anybody except one or two friends that her mother was going to be there and that
