Rules -- Rules Committee. I wish he were on Appropriations. If he were, say, the chairman of Appropriations and the subcommittee, we'd have an entirely different story. But the personality and life's interests and lack of education or education of members of a subcommittee are just tantamount to the life or death of people, in this case.

Q:

You were talking about this 70 million additional --

Mrs. Lasker:

Hill lost all of it except about 21/2 million we got for coronary care units, hypertensive study, and immunotherapy in cancer and the arthritis center.

Q:

This was the conference committee --

Mrs. Lasker:

-- It was the conference committee, they struck it out, and Mahon was even so dastardly as to have signed the conference report and then gotten up and opposed it on the floor:
