Q:

When was this?

Lasker:

In early December, and maybe this helped to make Mr. Nixon interested.

Q:

Yes, I saw this ad. Yes, I did indeed.

Lasker:

You did? You didn't know it had anything to do with me?

Q:

No, I didn't

Lasker:

Well, my name didn't appear.

Q:

Of course, I should have known with Emerson Foote.

Lasker:

-- exactly, a sign that I'm in sympathy with something.

Q:

Yes, I thought this was very compelling.

Lasker:

I paid for the ad and I got the ad done by Doyle, Dane and Bernbach.

Q:

I thought it was a very compelling one. Has there been much response?

Lasker:

Well, there's been some response, and I have a feeling that it couldn't help but have been shown to Mr. Nixon, who is now thinking of appointing this commission. Later we heard the White House got between 6000 and 8000 letters.
