I noticed in one area you were critiquing Kennedy in terms of resumption of nuclear tests
and connecting the nuclear tests to your concern with the environment.

Yes. When was that, did you say?
That was in September '61.
In September '61.
Well, I don't take back a word of that. But when I was thinking of environment, I
really was not thinking of environment in the nuclear sense. I mean, that's a different --
Right. That was one of the things I was trying to piece together, is when did you start to
bring those two kinds of concerns together in your own thinking?
You mean --
The nuclear tests and their effect -- did people know about their potential impact, negative
impact on the environment? And were groups like the Sierra Club addressing those issues?
