had a shop uptown in the 42nd or 43rd Street area near Fifth Avenue. He was the magnificent florist of New York.

Rose Pedrick had worked for Fleischmann. She was related to Bill Pedrick, who was an officer of some kind under Smith and a great friend. She was Katie's great friend. She'd been to school with her. It was Rose Pedrick who got the woman at Altman's to dress Mrs. Smith. Rose also, on this occasion, got the flowers. Mrs. Van Namee, the girl that George Van Namee married, also had some thing to do with Fleischmann.

Between the two of them they got a perfectly magnificent floral display from Fleischmann. The church was trimmed as you never have seen a church trimmed. In the Roman Catholic Church they don't usually let you trim up the church. You can put a bunch of flowers on the altar, or two bunches of flowers on the altar, for a wedding, but you can't transform the church into a garden. It just isn't done. A church is a church. They had an awful lot of flowers in this church. You were impressed with them when they came in. You were impressed with the number of candles lighted not only in the sanctuary, but all through the place and with the enormous amount of people -all so terrifically dressed up.
