Well, you've heard that one. I don't know whether the President told us that or not. According to his story, they rode out in a jeep. They had some house set aside for them that was convenient. I'm not sure that it wasn't in Marakech. Anyhow, the President wanted to see what was going on on the front, and they rode out in a jeep. It was the President and whoever was with him, and Elliott was sitting up behind, sort of sitting up on the back of things. There was a driver and a general with him. He drove out through the lines. The soldiers had been drawn up and told a V.I.P. was going to inspect them, but it might be the Postmaster General or it might be another General, it might be a British General, it might be anything. A man whom I know who was there told me that he just thought he was seeing things, thought he'd been too long exposed to the African sun. He thought he ought to see the doctor right away. It was a very strange experience.

Then Roosevelt told us one of the things that had been done by the Americans. Oh, and he also drove around
