They tended to resent it more than the people who had a little education and some breeding and could think in broader terms, had perhaps been to Europe to go to school or been North to Princeton or something. That crowd adjusted themselves eventually on a philosophical basis. But to the other groups, their way of life had been destroyed. It just was gone. And they were a long time picking up anything else. You know how they cling to their old ideas down there.
