Anyhow, they arrived. They didn't have the proper mourning with them--you know, not exactly the proper mourning. And I remember that they were up in this second floor apartment, and they were telephoning around to various places. They didn't do the telephoning themselves. They were getting Mrs. Helm and Miss Tully and Mrs. Roosevelt and other people to telephone for them to this milliner or that milliner to get a hat. And one of them had gotten herself a black dress in New York, but it had little bits of short sleeves in it. It was a ball dress more than a mourning dress. Well, she had to have sleeves, so somebody was telephoning around for her to get a dress size 12 or size 14 that had sleeves.
