I don't remember many other people. I don't remember what they said. You know, I can't remember whether any of the Court went up to the funeral. It seems likely that they would have, yes, or at least a delegation would have gone, but I can't remember them there.

I suppose that the occasion was quite personal, and that therefore one remembers only the more personal aspects of it. I remember that I spoke to Father Anthony after the funeral, and thanked him for what he had done. It was a very beautiful service. I don't remember the other people there. I remember Wickard, Wallace, Ickes, Henry Morgenthau. I do remember Henry Stimson looking like a ghost, and I remember some other old man standing with him. Oh yes, and remember thinking, “This is a bad day for old men to catch cold. I hope they have their rubbers on.”

People catch cold at funerals, you know, standing on the wet ground so long, and I remember thinking that about Henry Stimson. He didn't catch cold, but you know, I was thinking it was a hazard. I don't remember Jim Forrestal there, although I know he was there of course, but I Just don't have any picture of him. I don't recall a lot of people that I'm sure
