FOCUS OF THE SEMINAR

This seminar deals with the medical, social, psychological, philosophical, artistic, religious, legal, and commercial aspects of death, dying, and grief. Discussions are concerned with individual and societal views of and approaches to death and its reverse, life through the ages. Attendance is maintained at a level that provides members with ample opportunity for active participation.

A Conference Organized by The Columbia University Seminar on Death

The conference will address many aspects of the currently contentious and evolving environment of death and death studies in the new century. Proposals for presentations are welcome on any aspect of the conference theme.

In addition, the conference has recieved preliminary interest from Praeger Publishing to produce a two-volume set of selected papers in conjunction with the conference, consisting of both conference presentations and longer chapter-length articles.
