Thailand related:

About Thailand: This section gives you the impression of Thailand from 4 different regions. I would like to apologize that this information is solely from my knowledge and experience. If you would like to add more information or correct the information I provided below, please e-mail me. Thank you.

Northern Thailand

The northern part of Thailand is mostly mountains. There are four famous rivers from all these mountains: Ping, Wang, Yom, and Naan. When I was a little kid, my family took me to a rafting trip along one of these rivers. The experience was truly amazing. The weather was quite cold and I saw a lot of animals along the rivers such as fish, snakes and birds. The weather in the northern part of Thailand is considered the coldest during the winter and the hottest during the summer because of the mountain terrain. The biggest city of this region is Chiangmai. It is also the second largest city of Thailand. Chaingmai is also a tourist city. You can find cheap jewelry there as well. Chiangmai people are very nice. Girls will also say jao~ at the end of the sentence. It is really cute. There is a very famous Buddist shrine on the top of a mountain called "Pra-tat-doi-suthep" (Picture attached below). In the northern language, doi means mountain. There are so many doi's and they are all very beautiful. Some doi's have opium. Some doi's have beautiful flowers. Some doi's have oranges. Some doi's have long-neck local people called "Kra lheing kor yao". You gotta see it to believe it. So I attached a picture down below (look at their necks). Northern Thailand is also famous for the waterfalls. The most famous waterfall is called "Tee lor soo." I have also attached two pictures below. If you have a chance, you can also go visit the golden triangle area (used to be the world most famous drug production area) and Burma. Regarding the food, northern food is very similar to Chinese food. My favorite dishes are "Kow Soi (noodles)" and the northern sausage (forget the native name.. sorry!).

Southern Thailand

The southern part of Thailand is connected to the sea on both sides: Andaman see on the west and Gulf of Thailand on the east. The south has one long mountain as the backbone of the region. The south has a lot of rain all year round. However, most of the time, the rain comes in the morning and at in the evening for a short period of time (e.g. half an hour). There are only two seasons in the south of Thailand. - the northeast and the southwest monsoons. During the May to October perio, the southwest winds bring heavy rains to most of the region. From November to April, on the other hand, the same area is left relatively cool and dry. Therefore, it is wise to visit the south from November to April. I have been to the south once, and I love it very much. The Andaman sea is a wonderful place for beaches and diving. There are many little islands roughly a few hours from Phuket, Trang, Satool, and Krabi such as Koh Kradarn, Koh Hin Dang, and Koh Hin Maung. Simiran is considered a world famous place for diving. Most of the islands are very beautiful. There is an island that you have to swim inside the cave when the water is not so high in order to see the inside of the island. This cave is called the Emerald cave. You can see that the color of the water is emerald from the picture below. Inside the cave is like inside a volcano. I couldn't take the picture of it because my camera is not that good. You gotta see it. During holidays season, this place is packed with more than 500 people. Regarding the food, southern dishes are mostly seafood. However, you have to be very careful because your stomach may not be accustomed to the food. Make sure you take some medicine everytime you have some raw food there. Just a little more notes, Trang is very famous for the chinese food. Surathani is famous for oyster. Yala is famous for salty eggs.
