TURNUS, king of the Rituli, was betrothed to Lavinia, King Latium's daughter, and fiercely opposed the settlement the king made with the Trojans. He attacked Aeneas, who slew him and married Lavinia (Aeneid VII, XII).

Turnus, with hardy, fierce heart, is painted on the wall of Venus's temple, KnT 1945. The strife of Turnus is written in the stars, MLT 201; the story of how Eneas robbed Turnus of his life is painted on the walls of the temple of glass, HF I.457. Turnus's dream of the Fury, Aeneid VII.413-434, appears in HF II.516. [Eneas: Gemini: Laveyne]

Turnus appears four times, in medial positions only, KnT 1945; MLT 201; HF I.457; HF II.516.
