5. What is the importance of elastin in the respiratory system? 

   Allows for expandability and return to original volume during expiration.

6. Which cells are responsible from keeping the lungs free from obstructing particulate matter?  How do they carry out this function? Macrophages (dust cells).  How do they carry out this function?  Phagocytosis.
