a USCF license. Jose Alcala, a Category 1 USCF coach provides instruction
during sessions that start in May and continue through August. Additional
coaches are being added for the 1997 season. Watch this website for future
details. Sessions are scheduled during weekdays and and weekends at various
times during the day. Last year's sessions were held at 6:00 AM, 10:00 AM
and 7:00 PM. Check the monthly coaching
schedule for times and locations.
Clinics - CRCA conducts several beginner clinics during the
year. In 1997 the club will continue it's efforts to promote women's
cycling by holding several women's clinics in conjunction with women only
club races.
Club Races - CRCA's home turf is Central Park and the club will
host 29 members only races from March to November on Saturday mornings.
There are three levels of races, A,B and C, with the distances usually
covering 30, 24 and 18 miles.(5, 4 and 3 outer loops of the park) While
most of the races are "scratch" races, the club also holds individual,
two-man, and four-man team trials as well as an occasional points race.
Sub-Teams - Beginning in 1994, CRCA has allowed the formation of
sub-teams within the club to promote team
tactics and improve the quality of racing. Each sub-team recruits riders
and sponsors for their team. There are currently over a dozen sub-teams
which compete for a sub-team championship. The championship is awarded
based upon points accumulated in a number of designated races including time trial and
points races.Sub-team Standings
Newsletter - Each member receives a monthly copy of Ci RCA now, the club
newsletter. The newsletter contains the club race calendar, race results,
coaching schedule, contributions from club members, classified ads, and
club gossip.

world of cycling. Past speakers have included Davis Phinney, Maynard
