Sautéed Cabbage

Sautéed cabbage is an excellent and easy-to-prepare side dish. Just cut the cabbage up into half-inch strips and sautée in olive oil with a little salt and lots of fresh-ground black pepper, until it's soft and a little browned.

Sautéed cabbage dish You can also put other stuff with it as in the photo (click to enlarge), for example red bell pepper, broccoli, potatoes, carrots, and chicken as shown (this photos is from back in the days when you could still buy edible chicken in the supermarket... nowadays, it's pumped full of foul-smelling liquid that not only tastes bad and is probably toxic, but also makes it impossible to sautée the chicken, because the liquid quickly fills the pan and the chicken comes out boiled and tough). (Update: in the late 2000s, organic chicken without additives is showing up in supermarkets.)
