COMMENTARY: FOOTNOTES: 1 "Nyloff": subsequently spelled "Niloff" (in full, "Artur Niloff"). The name is said by Federhofer to have been a humorous anagram of "Violin" (the last name of his close friend Moritz Violin): Nach Tagebüchern ..., p.30, note 50. If "y" is taken to be a conflation of two "i"s, then this anagram is closer to the original name, and "Nylov" would have been an exact anagram. 2 Eventually titled Instrumentations-Tabelle, but often referred to in correspondence as Instrumenten-Tabelle (the form in which the title is given on the cover and title-page of the current issue, although the original title still appears at the head of the Table itself). 3 This would become a crucial issue in dealings over subsequent editions. 4 "2000 Exemplare" underlined by S. 5 "K. 100.– für jedes Tausend" underlined by S. 6 "um Ihnen die Anstellung des Ladenprei-" underlined by S. 7 "Grunde ... ermöglichen" left-sidelined (by S?). 8 manu propria: by his own hand SUMMARY: © Commentary, Footnotes, Summary Ian D.
