November 4, [1903] : To Berlin with Floriz,1 at Brodes[?]. Tempi too fast in Busoni's performance.2 Bad reviews.3

1 i.e. S's closest friend, Moriz Violin.

2 i.e. Busoni's première of Schoenberg's orchestral arrangement of S's Syrische Tänze, given the next day, November 5, 1903, by the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at the Beethovensaal in Berlin. Clearly the second line of the entry was added after the performance.

3 Schenker's scrap book includes clippings of ten reviews of the concert, dated November 6-8, and eleven more dated November 9-19 (OC 2/pp.5, 6, 7. (The next entry in the diary is November 9.)
