Sehr geehrter Herr !

Auf Ihre werten Zeilen vom 30. d. M.2 beehren wir uns zu erwidern, daß wir am 27. Februar ein Exemplar Ihres Buches an die Redaktion der Österreischen Rundschau auf deren Wunsch gesandt haben. Wir dürfen Sie vielleicht bitten, Herrn Dr. Graf|3 hiervon zu verständigen, damit er sich in der Redaktion nach dem Verbleib des Exemplars erkundigen kann. Sollte sich hierbei zeigen, daß dasselbe nicht aufzufinden ist, so sind wir evtl. gerne bereit, ein zweites Exemplar zu senden.

Dear Sir,

In response to your est’d missive of the 30th inst2 we are pleased to inform you that we sent a copy of your book to the editorial office of the Österreische Rundschau at their request on February 27. We would ask you please to advise Dr. Graf3 of this fact so that he can inquire of the editorial staff as to the whereabouts of the copy. Should it turn out that the latter is not to be found, then we will be happy if necessary to send a second copy.

2 CA 66.

3 Max Graf (1873–1958), influential Austrian music critic who, as part of his degree at the University of Vienna had, like S, studied harmony there with Bruckner, and from 1902 taught music aesthetics at the Vienna Conservatory, serving also as music critic for several prominent journals and newspapers. He was an advocate of Mahler, Schoenberg, and other young composers. Only two letters (undated) from him to S survived.
