COMMENTARY: FOOTNOTES: 1 Cotta’s carbon copy does not show the printed letterhead of dateline. The original seems not to survive in OJMC. 2 CA 66. 3 Max Graf (1873–1958), influential Austrian music critic who, as part of his degree at the University of Vienna had, like S, studied harmony there with Bruckner, and from 1902 taught music aesthetics at the Vienna Conservatory, serving also as music critic for several prominent journals and newspapers. He was an advocate of Mahler, Schoenberg, and other young composers. Only two letters (undated) from him to S survived. SUMMARY: © Commentary, Footnotes, Summary Ian D. Bent 2005
