[Cotta letterhead]
STUTTGART, den 15. Oktober 1908.

Herrn Dr. Heinrich Schenker
Wien.

Sehr geehrter Herr!

Ihrem gefl.

[ sign’d: ] J.G.Cottasche Buchandlung Nachf.

Dr. Heinrich Schenker
Vienna

Dear Sir,

We are happy to learn from your letter of the 13th inst2 that you concur with our view as to the procedure and date for the publication of Part II of your book on music ( Counterpoint ), as we presented them in our letter of the 9th inst.3 It is thus settled that this Part will be published in a single volume in about March or April of next year, provided that Section 3, which is still lacking, is delivered on time. According to your est’d letter, we may expect the latter certainly within the next few weeks.

{verso} The terms of our contract of December 1905,4 which provide for a single text type-setting of the book under the conditions agreed for Part I, remain in force for the publicaton of Part II. For formality’s sake, we ask you please kindly to confirm this.5

Once this is done, we will, in accordance with your wishes, embark as soon as possible on the type-setting of the manuscript already in our hands, and will supply you, as previously with Part I, with proofs in galleys.

With kind regards,
Yours truly,
[ sign’d: ] Heirs of the J.G.Cotta Bookdealership
