30.XII.20

Lieber u. verehrter Herr Professor!

[ sign’d: ] A. Halm

Dear Professor!

I can thank you only very briefly for your cordial letter1 and express my delight that you were able to get so much of your work in print. My things await better times. As a compliment, I am sending you herewith one of the exceptions.

Have I written you that on May 2 my large concerto [in C major, with piano obligato] is supposed to be performed in Stuttgart? In case you are still considering the trip to Stuttgart, perhaps you can arrange it accordingly?

With cordial greetings and wishes,
Yours,
[ sign’d: ] A. Halm

{2} Zwissler Publications almost accepted three piano trios of mine (suites, two large, one small).2 But he became fearful of the expenses.

1 The most recent surviving letter from S is DLA 69.930/9, January 18, 1920. Since H has written to S three times since then, it may be that H is referring to a letter now unknown.

2 Halm is referring to the suites for piano trio in D major, C major, and B minor, published by Zwissler (Wolfenbüttel) in 1922 as Kammermusik volumes 2 and 3 in Halm’s chamber music series (Kammermusik). Volume 3 was published in a second edition in 1931 by Bärenreiter (Kassel). The first suite was published preliminarily as a supplement in the Neue Musikzeitung 40 (1919).
