Lieber u. verehrter Herr Professor!

[ sign’d: ] A. Halm.

Dear Professor,

I received the yearbook, volume 2.1 For the time being I can’t possibly do any reading in it, but I look forward to it, particularly to the discussion of Bach’s fugues.2 In addition to owing you thanks for your gift, I also owe thanks for your cordial letters. However, I am presently not in top-notch health and am horribly delinquent with urgent projects (new edition of the Piano Method).3 I therefore ask for friendly patience. I no longer know whether I sent you my Theater Music II (Much Ado About Nothing).4

{recto} If not, please let me know at some point.

With cordial greetings,
Yours,
[ sign'd: ] A. Halm
