Sehr geehrter Herr Professor !

[ sign’d: ] Emil Hertzka

Dear Professor,

Unfortunately it will not be possible to meet your wish1 to read proofs of the Chromatic Fantasy [& Fugue] over Christmas, because a start has not yet been made on the engraving, on account of an exceptional backlog at the printers.

If you can spare just a quarter of an hour during the Christmas holidays, and can give me the pleasure of a visit, I should be most grateful to you, in the interests of the publication of your work. Perhaps it will be just a little easier for you to get away now than was the case in the late Fall.

With very best wishes,
Yours truly with kind regards,
[ sign’d: ] Emil Hertzka
