FUTTERMITTEL-ZENTRALE
DER PRÄSIDENT
Wien, 12. January 1917.

Sehr geehrter Herr Doktor!

[ sign’d: ] Mendl

Hochwohlgeboren [/] Herrn Dr. Heinrich S c h e n k e r,

DER PRÄSIDENT
Vienna, January 12, 1917.

Dear Doctor,

In the execution of the will of my sister Sofie Deutsch,1 deceased the 5th of this month, I have the honor of notifying you that my sister in this her will has designated and ordered stipends for impecunious skilled composers and similarly qualified composition pupils, [and] that the annual determination as to these stipends on each occasion should be in your gift.2

In this matter, I deem it advisable in the interests of a smooth and consistent implementation of the wishes of the deceased to hold a discussion, and I request you to do me the honor of calling on me on M o n d a y the 15th of this month at 12 noon in the Futtermittel-Zentrale, [Vienna] I, Trattnerhof 1, 4th floor.

Since it unfortunately often happens that I am called away suddenly, I ask you in any case {2} to ascertain by telephone at 11 a.m.–No. 16546, 12166, 17375—that I am on the premises in the Futtermittel-Zentrale.

I take this opportunity also to notify you that my sister decreed in her will that 2,000 Kroner are to be paid to you each year in two installments of 1,000 Kroner on January 1 and July 1 of each year, and has in addition left you a legacy of 5,000 Kroner.

With cordial best wishes to you and your dear wife,
Yours truly,
[ sign’d: ] Mendel
