Sehr geehrter Herr Professor!

Hochachtungsvoll Ihr sehr ergebener :
[ sign’d: ] Türkel

Wohlg. Herrn
Prof. Dr. Heinrich Schenker

T/N. Re: Sofie Deutsch.

Dear Professor,

A thousand apologies for the error that I committed. For I really was unaware that you were so-to-speak a colleague1 {31v}, and I was always under the impression that you were a Doctor of Philosophy.

So very kind a man have I found you to be, dear Professor, that [I hope] you will think no further ill of me for this error. You will in the meanwhile, dear Professor, have received my communication2 that the 5,000 Kroner3 have already come into my hands. As mentioned before, there was no question of any reluctance to oblige on the part of the Chamber Counsellor4 but I had to address myself to the Chamber Counsellor.

The Chamber Counsellor was happy to communicate this information [to me], and [I] shall be delighted to be of service to you.

I am, Sir,
with kind regards,
yours very truly,
[ sign’d: ] Türkel

Prof. Heinrich Schenker, Esq.,
Vienna III.
