COMMENTARY:
Format: 1-p letter, single sheet recto; UE letterhead, body of letter Roman-typed, holograph signature.

FOOTNOTES:

1 i.e. Handel: Organ Concertos, vol.I.

2 uiberreichen: archaic spelling for überreichen.

3 "bitten ... Haendel" underlined by S.

4 Adolf Robitschek, one of the founders of UE, was a partner in the Viennese publishing firm of Rebay & Robitschek, which dates back at least to the 1880s. It is possible that this partner was the signatory to the present letter, in which case he was perhaps in charge of the UE Administration. The swash capital letter of his signature perhaps suggest someone of an older generation, as does the archaic spelling of uiberreichen. There was also an R. Rebay, a composer whose Löns-Lieder were published by UE c.1917 (UE 5928-5930). (Based on information given by Nigel Simeone)
