Schenker, Esq., Dear Professor, Enclosed is Dance No. 31 with the exception of the first violins, which will follow in an hour’s time. Please return this Dance corrected, as quickly as possible, after which Nos. 1, 2, and 3 will be dispatched to Busoni immediately. COMMENTARY: FOOTNOTES: 1 Schenker's Syrische Tänze, originally for piano four hands, orchestrated by Arnold Schoenberg at the instigation of Ferruccio Busoni. The dances are No.1 Andante espressivo--Allegro scherzando, D minor; No.2 Allegro con fuoco, C minor; No.3 Allegretto [dolcissimo], G minor; No.4 Allegro molto passionate, D major.
