Handwritten letter from Jonas to Schenker, dated March 3, 1928

Sehr verehrter Herr Doktor!

Dear Doctor,

Please forgive the somewhat delayed reply to your cordial letter,1 which I have also communicated to Dr. Weisse2 for consideration. Indeed there is much to consider, and such an enterprise3 cannot and should not be initiated with excessive haste. There still remains only the question of whether one may go all too deeply into the demands; in particular, whether at the present time it speaks against the merit of a project if one is not able to guarantee it the longest life. Would it not in any case be necessary to determine the general interest in such a matter, and would in this case the very acknowledgment of a more limited participation signify a humiliation? That would need to be weighed carefully!

{2} I am considering in the matter sending out an invitation to the 2,000 presently known addresses of which you have spoken in connection with Mr. Vrieslander.4 That indeed requires some further thought.

In any case, please accept in advance my thanks for your efforts, and also the expression of my

warmest regards.
Yours sincerely,
[ sign’d: ] Dr Oswald Jonas
