Sehr verehrter Herr Doktor!

Hob4 schon in Wien? Beste Grüße an Ihre werte Frau Gemahlin.

Mit allen guten Wünschen
Ihr ergebenster
[ sign’d: ] Oswald Jonas

October 31

Dear Doctor,

Please excuse my long silence. I have unfortunately been very afflicted and restricted by a grippe, and a week earlier by a bad toothache. At the moment I don’t know what I should tackle first, since I am behind in many things. I spoke to Dr. Furtwängler1 briefly at the concert; he wants me to visit him this week; I am curious what I will learn there.2

Because of many revisions and additions I am afraid that there will be no space for the appendix (regarding the Archive3) {recto}—I must take it up with my publisher (who, incidentally, is already very, very impatient). Is Mr. van Hoboken4 in Vienna? If so, may I ask for his address? Best greetings to your good wife.

With all good wishes,
Most sincerely,
[ sign’d: ] Oswald Jonas
