Geehrter, lieber Herr Dr Jonas!

Dear Dr. Jonas,

Many thanks for your message.1 The discussion2 requested by Hoboken,3 the third such, seems very dubious to me; obviously—after such a colossal currency-appreciation!—he has only the one concern, namely to back out of commitments, or in any case to discharge them on the cheap, even more cheaply, in the cheapest possible way! Be careful! In any event I would be very happy to have you stop by.

Let me notify you herewith that the Deutsche allgemeine Zeitung of April 28 has published an essay by me, “Was wird aus der Musik?”, [and] that the Deutsche Zeitschrift (formerly: Kunstwart|4) publishes “Erinnerung an Brahms” by me in the {recto} May issue, which has just come out.

Till later!

Best greetings from me and from my wife.

Yours,
[ sign’d: ] H. Schenker
