Handwritten letter from Schenker to Cotta, dated June 3, 1909

Sehr geehrter Herr !

Nochmals dankend zeichne

Hochachtungsvoll ergeben

Dear Sir,
Many thanks for your decision regarding the splitting of the volume.1 Since it precisely accords with the interests of the work itself, I shall do everything within my power to comply with your recommendations. As I am hoping to get the last remaining galley-proofs off [to you] early next week, some new galleys would be extremely welcome.

Today I sent you by return gathering 10 with my imprimatur, [and] I included gathering 12 and further galleys.2 Unfortunately—the first time this has happened—both copies of gathering 11 (revised proofs) have gone missing, this being all the more regrettable since I had already completed the work of correcting them. Please arrange for your printers to send me another copy of gathering 11. With renewed thanks, I remain

Yours, With kinds regards,
[ sign’d: ] H. Schenker
