Sehr geehrter Herr !

Es lag eine große Partie von Beispielen vor, die ich durch Textcommenten-Einschaltungen1 unterbrechen müßte. Das war der Grund der Verzögerung. Die weiteren Bogen werde nunmehr in raschesten Tempo folgen.

Mit vorz. Hochachtung

Dear Sir,

I was faced with a large batch of [music] examples, which I had to break up by inserting text comments.1 That was the reason for the delay. From now on, the remaining gatherings will reach you prestissimo.

With kind regards,
[ sign’d: ] H. Schenker
