Lieber Herr Prof. v. Cube!

I hasten to tell you that Mr R…..d|1 is entirely unknown to me, and that there has apparently been a misunderstanding. Also, I recommend that you await [news of] Weisse’s2 successes in Berlin before deciding to go. (Only four weeks separates from the planned meetings in Berlin.)3

With best greetings,
Yours,

FOOTNOTES:

1 This refers to a music teacher in Essen named Reichert (or Reichardt) who was passing himself off as a former pupil of Schenker’s. Cube may have mentioned this in a letter that has not survived; the subject is mentioned again in his next letter to Schenker, OJ 9/34, [22], November 22, 1930.

2 Click on Hans Weisse.

3 A series of lectures to music teachers, planned by Weisse with support from Furtwängler and the Prussian Minister for Education, Leo Kestenberg.

SUMMARY:
S denies knowing a pupil-imposter; advises C to wait until after Weisse's lectures in Berlin.
