Sehr verehrter Herr Professor !

[ sign’d: ] Hertzka

Greatly revered Professor,

Hotfoot from Berlin, I have your kind letter1 before me and shall arrange for review copies of your Bach edition2 from now on to go out to all the musical periodicals in question with the notice worded by you.3

I was delighted to see from your remarks that your conversation with Director Bopp4 has gone promisingly. Also your comment that you wish to associate yourself with my suggestion that one Beethoven sonata and one installment of Bach be published each year strikes me as most welcome.

We will surely be able to reach agreement easily on the formal terms when we talk. Simultaneously, I am having the new draft contract for the Ninth Symphony sent to you, and I hope that the latter will meet with your wishes.

Looking forward to being able to greet you soon at my office,

Yours with kind regards,
[ sign’d: ] Hertzka
