___________

Sehr geehrter Herr Direktor!

C. gatherings 4/6 supplied to Hilder Sohn[?]
___________

Dear Director,

I hear that Director Hertzka, who likes to handle my case personally, is away. For this reason, I am letting you know that I have to hold on to gatherings 4 and 51 of the 2nd proofs until the next few gatherings arrive from the printers. This is because, contrary to my more prudent arrangement, which locates the footnotes for a given section immediately after that section, the type-setters have used the commoner method of locating the footnotes at the foot of the page. I fear, however, that they will run into difficulties with this in the gatherings that follow. Consequently, I would prefer to wait and see how things work out before I send back gatherings 4 and 5, which are currently in my hands.

I hope that I will soon have the next few gatherings in my hands, which would be desirable, in the interests { verso } of the speediest possible completion.

With kind regards,
Yours truly,
[ sign'd: ] H. Schenker
