| Purposes for Educational Assessment |
|
Assessments for guidance are used by guidance counselors to help students (or other clients) identify their career and educational paths (User Path 4). Often, the instruments used in this User Path are standardized. Guidance assessments are not legislatively controlled. Direct users of assessment in this category are guidance counselors. In guidance contexts, information from assessments provides only a part of the whole picture needed to form conclusions for individuals. Given that assessment tools that counselors use are well-developed and validated, the decision-making process can be uncomplicated. Counselors also deliver personal/behavioral counseling and training to their clients, where assessment tools can be used by them in a somewhat different way. Page 7 |
