In turn, the chapter offered procedural guidelines for developing/selecting self-report instruments and structured observation tools, including guidelines for making and interpreting anecdotal records, a form of naturalistic observation. Self-report measures could consist of both structured response and open-ended items. Response scales could take the form of Likert Scales, dichotomous scales or other ordered rating scales. The chapter presented detailed rules and examples on how to develop, assemble and score self-report tools. Threats to validity, reliability and utility were also discussed with suggested methods of control. Page 4 |
