The Institute for Primate Research, part of the National
Museums of Kenya undertakes research in basic and applied aspects
using monkeys. IPR is involved in collaborative and contract research in
association with academic and industry at the international level.

Forest Integrated Conservation Project
The International Center of Insect Physiology and Ecology (ICIPE) together
with its Partners is implementing an integrated project that aims at contributing
to the conservation of the Kakamega Forest by tackling some of the major factors
that lead to its destruction and loss.

organization is active in a variety of ways that involve local communities
in conserving and spreading knowledge about the forest.

research on sexual selection in yellow-shouldered widowbirds (Euplectes
macrourus) at
the forest in the 1980's.
