Short Biography(Updated in late 2020)

I was a master student of Computer Science in Columbia University and I am interested in building large scalable applications. After I graduated, I joined Yahoo Ads, worked on Yahoo Ad platform and mobile ad platform. Later I joined LinkedIn in 2017, built the email notification, bing geo integration, smart note and job approval flow(FE) on Hiring Platform, also lead the projects such as candidate source tracking, panel interview on Talent Hub.

Besides work, I enjoy travelling, hiking, watching football/soccer games and playing video games. I also love reading history and geography books and videos. My favorite team is Chelsea FC, and I have a Youtube channel for my game clips: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH-2hTuO67nI17wTtpPShZA

Research(Updated in early 2014)

Distributed Computing Laboratory, Nanjing University

Analyzed data to discover patterns; Was responsible for creating functions to locate an individual in the building, determine the habits of a specific person or a group, etc. Was the sole developer on the project.

Analyzed RFID tags' RSSI data from hundreds of experiences; Ensured the reliability of this system and developed a high efficient and accurate algorithm; Made a system that could detect the direction of a moving object as it passed though the system. Worked in collaboration with a doctoral student. Was chosen to present research during 5-year re-certification hearings for the status of 'State Key Laboratory'.

Projects(Updated in early 2014)

Social Network Website (Academic Project)
Built website employing jsp, php, AJAX and JavaScript. Using this system, users can create a personal profile, add other users as friends, post news and messages, transfer files, and participate in group chat. Collaborated with two other students on the project.

Online shopping System (Academic Project)
Built system in Java. This system has two versions, one has a GUI and the other runs on the console, supporting the TCP and UDP protocols. Sellers can post items for sale in an individualized shop, and customers can see the details of, bid on, or buy commodities within these shops. Also, customers who are browsing the same shop can chat with each other and the shop owner. Was the sole developer on the project.

Story Sharing Website (Academic Project)
Built website employing jsp, jQuery, JavaScript on Amazon Web Services. Using S3 to store pictures, music and long text story; using RDS for database and using beanstalk to deploy website online. Users can post their pictures and music on the website to make their own stories and share them with others. Collaborated with three other students.

MixConcert (Academic Project)
Built system in object-c for the iOS platform. Using Bonjour to communicate, the application allows user collaborate with each other using devices in the same Wi-Fi network. More than one user can play different instruments at the same time, which creates an environment similar to a live band. Collaborated with three other students on the project.

MotionInput (Academic Project)
Built system in python. This system uses Leap Motion to recognize gestural inputs in the air and T9 algorithm to predict words.  MotionInput is a gestural text entry system that operates by making hand gestures, primarily by tracing a finger. Specifically we display an octagon where each edge contains a group of letters and a word is spelled out by moving one’s finger towards each of the respective letter groups. Once the letter group is traced out, using the T9 predictive word algorithm, if there are three or more possible words, the algorithm will pick the three most popular words, which the user can then pick from by tapping one, two, or three fingers. Collaborated with three other students.

Footprint (Independent Project)
Built system in Java for the Android platform. The application allows user share their location information with friends so friends can see the locations of each other. Users can be notified when their friends are nearby and send message to each other. Collaborated with one classmate on the project.
