Wendy B. Naidich received her doctorate in social policy in 2005 and her master's degree in social work in 1979, both from the Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). Dr. Naidich's research interests are primarily in the area of child welfare and family and children's policy. Currently, in addition to teaching, she serves as a CUSSW field instructor, and is in the process of developing an internship program for high school seniors in the school district where she lives. During her doctoral studies, Dr. Naidich participated in research projects on welfare reform implementation and welfare usage, the effects of tax rebates on poverty, and the impact of housing subsidies on hardship and on labor force participation. She also worked on small projects evaluating a communitybased child welfare program and assessing barriers to the use of public benefits. Before that, Dr. Naidich worked for 15 years at Covenant House developing programs for homeless and runaway youth including a national crisis hotline where she worked for 9 years, 6 years as the Executive Director. During this time, she also developed a peer review system for the Covenant House crisis centers.
