Leslie Chabon Wiesner, LCSW received her MS from Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW) in 1974 and her postgraduate certificate from Downstate Medical School Department of Psychiatry in Sex and Couples Therapy in 1980. Since then, she has had extensive experience as a licensed clinical social worker in New York and New Jersey as an educator, clinician, private practitioner and consultant in a variety of settings, including being affiliated with CUSSW for almost 30 years. In academics at Columbia, Ms. Wiesner has used her clinical experience and expertise to teach (and in two instances develop the curriculum for) courses in Developmental Disabilities, Human Sexuality, Professional Identity and Field Instruction. As Assistant Director of Field Education, she has used her broad knowledge about field education to not only be a strong student advocate, but to also mentor and train new field instructors and field advisors in teaching methods and skills.

In her professional work outside of CUSSW, Ms. Wiesner has a large portfolio of teaching, presentations and consultations not only in the social work field, but also within medical schools, community organizations, foundations, government lobby and healthcare organizations. Her major research interests are in male and female sexual health, social work education and couples therapy. More recently, she has focused on issues of caregiving and the impact of termial illness on families.
