Bio:
Lauren B. Gates, for over twenty years, has conducted research, provided training, developed policy and programs, and offered technical assistance around human resource development and employment issues. Her expertise is in working with individuals confronted with barriers to labor force participation such as individuals with physical or psychiatric disability, youth transitioning from foster care, or caregivers, and organizations unfamiliar with best practices for the effective employment of workers with multiple challenges. She is the Director the Center for Social Policy and Practice (Workplace Center) and an adjunct faculty at the School of Social Work.

Current Projects:
- Development of strategies to integrate career development and employment support into services for youth transitioning out of foster care
- Test of the feasibility of workplace supports to assist working single parents manage work while meeting demands of caring for a child with asthma
- Development of strategies that promote the inclusion of peer providers on staff of social service agencies
- Exploration of the impact of strategies to improve the training and employment status of home health aides
