Shared Resources Etiquette 101

A quick lesson in shared resource etiquette.
Please be aware that your presence on Calc consumes resources and licenses. If you are only disconnected, you are still on calc.

Two ways to Leave Calc.
1) Disconnect – to disconnect from your current session and keep all programs running, Click the X at the top right of the screen.

2) Log Off - If you are done with the calc server and can close your session, please log off.  This frees resources and a license for others that want to use the server.
Start > click on the right arrow > log off

Currently, the users logged into calc look like this.

You should only be disconnected if you are actively running a job.  In most cases, people will surf the web, check email, and open internet browsers to read and research while thier claculation is running. What tends to happen is that after the calculations are finished, they tend to leave these sessions open because they have many open items on their desktop. This is understandabile, but do keep in mind that your idle presence on calc has a resource impact.

Please help to keep the calculation resource lean & mean.

Thanks all.
