APIS Input Update System (IU)
The purpose of the APIS Input Update System is to allow for Columbia internal contributors and collection administrators the ability to directly access and edit the data in individual records. These edited records can then be viewed and approved by the appropriate staff. Once approved it may be published by generating an intake file and loading it as is usually done.
This Application will be slightly divergent from our usual projects in that it is being designed and implemented in a different fashion. The code will be written in JAVA using servlets and jsp while the rules will be abstracted and stored in the database. This application once stabilized should be able to handle other collections, such as Jay Papers, simply by updating portions of the database, without altering the underlying code. Once this application is stabilized and in production, efforts to further utilize the framework created will begin. It is the desire that after this application is successfully completed that it will become the framework of a new a2if, validator, and even loader.
