To what extent were any of these black?
Interviewers?
Yes.
Some of the interviewers were, mostly all of the interviewers were black.
Did Lou Harris or Roper have many black interviewers?
No, no. Actually, I suppose they may have had some, but we used black interviewers with our subcontractors. The sample and the actual telephone interviewing were subcontracted, but the interviewers who worked for the subcontractors were black.
Where did you find these interviewers?
Where do you find interviewers? Many of them were out of work actors, and students, and they had to be trained.
So, you had to train them then?
Oh, sure.
They were not generally trained, experienced interviewers when
