Session:         Page of 100

For parents to respect children's rights to have some little corner of the room, for their possessions. And it's not easy, when you don't have enough room.

Q:

Back to the family here -- this is not an extraneous issue. Part of this problem of course is that they just don't have the space at home too, isn't it? Do you get involved in family planning and birth control to any extent, as an offshoot?

Clark:

We get involved in referrals, yes. There is a family planning center on 125th St. which is what we use, and we encourage families to use that center. More recently, we have been encouraging our adolescent girls to use that center. Yes.

Q:

You have had a premarital pregnancy problem with some of the older girls who come here?

Clark:

Well, we have been working with large groups of adolescent girls, and many of them have children.

Q:

Already have children?

Clark:

Already have children, yes, when they come. Or many of them have children after they get here. And we've encouraged them to go to family planning, and we've even had group discussions about family planning with adolescent girls.

Q:

How young do you bring them in, or does it depend on apparent need?

Clark:

You mean do we bring them in here?
