From Philip-Morris. One of his young ladies came over with the first check for 250,000 dollars. I said, “Thank you,” got on my knees and said, “That will clean twenty-two miles of books.” She was astounded at the thought of twenty-two miles of books being cleaned. It ended up in a whole column of the New York Times about these Russian emigres who make a profession of cleaning books. Funny isn't it?
You got the forty-five million from the board. Did you get more than that?
No, just that. We've got two to go. We might get over forty million because we've got two to go.
Then you had to create the structure. We got a fellow by the name of Jake Mascotte, who's chairman of the Continental Insurance Company, and is new to New York and sort of wanted to get known in the city, and was willing to take on the corporate drive. Then we just go ferreting around for people who might give. It's absolutely extraordinary. Some who you think would won't give you a penny, and some come out of the woodwork with--there are three sisters who jointly but separately have given us over ten million.
That was a total surprise, you mean.
