I urged the beautification of cities, which can be improved by new design and planning. Then I urged that an industrial designer such as Raymond Loewy should be consulted, as he had wide experience in industry and in planning large projects. Then I urged that the expression of the human spirit be encouraged in the Great Society through the prolonging of the prime of life of our citizens, through better medical care and more research. Extend Medicare to all citizens eventually, and doctor's care as well. Medicare doesn't include doctor's care, believe it or not.

On the same basis as the Medicare bill, which now only covers hospitalization for those over 65, I urged her to urge the expansion of research in cancer, heart, strokes, mental illness, all the major causes of disability and death; encourage the recognition of medical discoveries through invitations to leading doctors and researchers to the White House; present the President's Medal of Freedom for medical discoveries.
