Lasker:

New York City did -- yes, they did. But they absolutely went back and eliminated the funds.

Q:

They did? When the situation got so bad.

Lasker:

Yes. It's the kind of thing that they can always eliminate, because people who are sick and poor never complain. They haven't got the energy to complain.

Q:

You know about Alice's efforts in the state.

Lasker:

Alice is still going to get the state to do something. The state is going to appoint a High Blood Pressure task force just to try and interest voluntary organizations to stimulate interest on a voluntary basis. We've just given a list of people that we thought would be good on that to the state health officer, Dr. Whalen.

Q:

You are also on that task force.

Lasker:

No, this would be a state task force for high blood pressure.
