toward the Capital, between the airport and the Capital, which will get to look very beautiful fairly soon.

Q:

Planted it with what?

Lasker:

Trees and shrubs, flowering trees. Maryland has done a pretty good job on the Beltway, part of the Beltway around Washington. All of this needs to be pursued, including Mr. Rex Written, the Highway Commissioner, who has the most to --

Q:

-- for Maryland?

Lasker:

No, for the nation. The head of the Highway Commission -- Bureau of Public Roads, I guess it is, or Commission of Public Roads. There is a very great deal left to do for this fall, some of which I will tell at our next meeting.

Q:

How many of these specific projects for the beautification of the city of Washington did you inspire or institute?

Lasker:

Well, I would say that I gave the daffodils, I inspired the Haynes Point and I'm going to pay for half of it . I got Mrs. Astor involved, certainly. I inspired the Rhode Island Avenue thing. I inspired the Scott Circle thing, and some other things that I think next fall I'll be able to tell you about.
