children, they could be given that ... (voice trails off)

Q:

That's a very interesting (development).

Lasker:

sn't that exciting?

Q:

Now you also told me last time about Syntex Company, a drug company.

Lasker:

Yes, I'll tell you about Syntex too. I went in January 1979 to see through Charlie Allen, Mr. Bowers, President of Syntex, and I urged them to be in touch with Mrs. Krim who was the head of the interferon research at Sloan-Kettering.

A charming man, Dr. White, who was the discoverer of thymosin -- which is a product of the thymus gland -- believed me. The others thought I must be crazy, because the product probably was almost unheard of by them. (cross talk)

Q:

You said he had all these senior scientists there.

Lasker:

Yes, they were there. Dr. White went to see Dr. Mathilde Krim and they finally made a contract as a result of pushing from behind with the help of a friend, Mr. Charlie Allen. He was involved in helping get the Syntex-Sloan Kettering Memorial Intereron Research group better financed.
